Trey Villarreal’s Battle with Cancer

Trey Villarreal’s Battle with Cancer

Achilles Founder and Celebrity Trainer

Trey Villarreal, founder and CEO of Achilles, the top selling lower body sports rehabilitation machine, was diagnosed with cancer at the young age of 24.  This was a shock to him and his family as Trey was a healthy and athletic high school and college football player and the youngest in his family.  Trey grew up in McAllen, Texas and as a highly awarded all state athlete he naturally stepped into the role as a nutrition specialist and sports trainer, but everything came to a halt when he was diagnosed with cancer.

"What cancer taught me was mental strength.  I wired my brain to think that we're competing against this disease.” say Trey.  His battle with stage 2 cancer was another milestone that shaped his outlook on life. Instead of succumbing to defeat, he embraced the challenge with a competitive spirit, viewing it as a game to be won.  From this mentality he just didn’t beat cancer and is now cancer free, but he also came up with the idea for the Achilles rehabilitation machine, which is now used by thousands of athletes and eight professional sports teams.

Trey says, “cancer is actually what gave me the clarity that my life was headed in the wrong direction.  I guess you can say that cancer woke me up and made me realize that life is short and you have to take risks and go after what you want.”

“It’s not about what you go through but how you go through it.  No matter what you are going through, it’s all for a reason and you have to be consciously aware that there is a message and lesson behind every struggle.”Today Trey is healthy and enjoying life!  When he is not training professional athletes and running a business, he spends time on the ocean fishing and playing golf.
